Frequently Asked Questions
what is the difference between microblading technique VS Shading technique?
Microblading and Shading are forms of tattooing technique that is semi-permanent. Microblading is a hand-held device used specifically for eyebrows - drawing tiny hair like strokes to help make your eyebrows look 3D. Shading is a machine method used for eyebrows, lip blush, eyeliner and freckles - lightly tinting and coloring the surface area to enhance your shape and color. Both techniques involve using a single-use sterile needle to deposit color pigment into the upper layer of the skin which results in a beautiful and natural healing effect. It's the new trend of art where every client's service (eyebrows, lip blush, eyeliner, freckles) will be customized to their liking and unique facial characteristics.
Does microblading and Shading hurt?
Your comfort is priority. I will be using high-quality numbing cream before and cooling gel during the microblading and/or shading process to make the session smooth for you. Everyone has a different pain tolerance and some people are more sensitive than others. Many say it feels like tiny scratches and is tolerable to painless.
How long does microblading and shading last?
After your initial microblading and/or shading appointment, it is recommended to have a touchup 4-6 weeks after. After your touchup, you can expect it to last anywhere from 1-3 years. It will vary between person to person based on body chemistry and how well you take care of it. Aftercare procedures will be provided to each client and it is your responsibility to follow what is provided to maximize longer lasting tattoos. Sun exposure and smoking is a major cause that can shorten the lifespan of your tattoo.
How long is the procedure?
All sessions will vary from person to person depending on skin type, service and technique. Typically, the initial session will be roughly 2-3 hours. A touchup session will be roughly 1 hour.
How Often will i need a touchup?
With each initial appointment, it is recommended for you to come back for a touch up session (booked within 4-6 weeks of initial session). Any additional touch ups will have a fee (even if you only need a tiny hair stroke fill in – simply because there is time, supplies, proper set up and clean up after every single client involved). If you want to maintain your tattoo looking crisp, a touch up is recommended every 10-12 months.
How do you ensure protecting client's health and safety?
Your safety is priority. All permanent makeup artists require proper blood borne pathogen training prior to working on live models. Thus, it is very important to understand the proper steps to reduce risk of blood borne pathogens. In my studio, I properly sanitize, disinfect and sterilize my tools and working area. A new individually packaged needle will be opened in front of you so you know what we’re using is one-time use only. After each appointment, all sundries (gauze, q-tips, cotton swabs etc.) will be disposed of and any equipment used will be properly sanitized and sterilized using medical grade solutions. All sharps (microblading needle) will be disposed properly into a sharps container.
24 Hours Prior To Your Appointment
will I receive Contact from the artist?
You will receive a reminder email 2-3 days prior to your appointment. It is important for clients to provide a source of contact information via email and phone number that is responsive and reliable. The email will contain information for you to follow 24 hours prior to your appointment.
how can i prepare myself?
Please feel free to come in with your brows filled in so I have an idea of how you usually do it. If you like a certain eyebrow shape/style,bring in a photo and show me. It is important to avoid taking any blood thinners (aspirin, vitamin E, ibuprofen and fish oil supplements) 72 hours before coming in to avoid bleeding. Do not consume alcohol the day before or day of your scheduled appointment. If you used Accutane, you'll have to be off that for 6 months before coming in. Also, avoid sun tanning 2 weeks before and after your procedure.
Any additional tips?
I highly recommend two tips before coming to your appointment.
- Washing your hair before coming in because it will be a little challenging to do so after since you will have to keep your brows away from water during the healing process.
- Keeping your eyebrows and forehead foundation-free as I will be wiping around those areas a lot during the microblading process.
